MezzBarriers Omega Space Saving Safety Pallet Gate
The MezzBarriers Omega Space Saving Safety Pallet Gate is designed to provide safe and controlled pallet loading on mezzanine floors, docks and high-level platforms where available space is limited. Its compact design makes it particularly suitable for narrow walkways, restricted loading areas and smaller mezzanine platforms where a conventional up-and-over pallet gate may not be practical.
The Omega uses a roller-assisted balanced-action lifting system to make opening and closing easier for operators, while maintaining continuous edge protection during pallet loading and unloading. The compact side frames allow the gate to operate within a restricted footprint, while providing access to three sides of the pallet for improved loading efficiency and manoeuvrability.
Each Omega Space Saving Pallet Gate is manufactured to measure, allowing the inside width, inside depth and load height to be specified to suit the application. The system is manufactured using galvanised steel and corrosion-resistant tube clamps, with replaceable components and no welded sections.
Space-Saving Pallet Protection
The Omega has been specifically developed for applications where a traditional pallet gate would take up too much space. Its compact side frames and roller-assisted movement allow the gate to operate effectively in confined areas without compromising the protection required around a mezzanine loading point.
The design helps replace temporary or unsuitable forms of protection, such as chains, removable barriers and bars, with a controlled mechanical pallet gate that remains part of the loading area.
Roller-Assisted Balanced Action
The gate uses a pull-down and push-up balanced-action system, with nylon rollers running within the compact side frames. Wire-rope pulleys assist the movement, helping the gate transition smoothly between its open and closed positions.
The self-lubricating nylon rollers provide low-friction operation while offering high wear and impact resistance, helping to reduce maintenance requirements over the working life of the gate.
Made-to-Measure Design
Every Omega pallet gate can be manufactured to suit the dimensions of the installation. This allows the gate to accommodate different mezzanine layouts, pallet sizes and loading requirements.
The available dimensions are:
- Inside width: up to 3000mm
- Inside depth: up to 2000mm
- Load height: up to 2500mm
The overall dimensions increase beyond the specified internal dimensions to accommodate the gate frame and operating mechanism.
Access to Three Sides of the Pallet
The Omega design provides access to three sides of the pallet, giving forklift operators and loading personnel greater visibility and manoeuvrability when positioning loads.
This can be particularly beneficial where space is restricted and a conventional gate design would limit access around the pallet.
Construction & Finish Options
The Omega is manufactured using a robust tube clamp construction system rather than welded components. This provides a strong and durable structure while allowing individual components to be replaced when required.
Two finish options are available:
- Fully galvanised construction
- Galvanised frame with Safety Yellow thermoplastic-coated gate tubes
The galvanised finish provides corrosion resistance, while the optional Safety Yellow thermoplastic coating provides increased visibility and a more comfortable surface where operators may come into contact with the gate tubes.

Safety & User Instructions
- The Omega must be correctly installed and secured before use.
- Ensure the gate is manufactured to suit the actual dimensions and loading requirements of the installation.
- Do not modify the gate, frame, operating mechanism or safety components without appropriate approval.
- Ensure the gate is fully closed and in its protected position when the loading area is not being actively accessed.
- Keep personnel clear of the pallet loading area during forklift operations.
- Take care around moving components, rollers, pulleys and potential pinch points.
- Do not place personnel, equipment or materials beneath or within the movement path of the gate.
- Ensure pallets and loads are stable and suitable for the loading application.
- Do not exceed the intended design or loading requirements of the pallet gate.
- Regularly inspect the frame, tube clamps, rollers, wire ropes, pulleys, kick plate and other operating components for damage or excessive wear.
- Do not use the gate if any component is damaged, loose or defective.
- Ensure the loading platform and surrounding area remain suitable for safe forklift operation.
- Installation and inspection should be carried out by suitably competent personnel.
- Follow the manufacturer’s installation, inspection and operating instructions.
- The Omega is designed in accordance with the requirements of BS EN ISO 14122-3:2016 for permanent means of access to machinery and associated safety requirements.
