Description

PlumAlti Heavy-Duty Duplex Webbing Sling – 10t WLL

The PlumAlti 10 tonne Duplex Webbing Sling is built for the heavier end of everyday lifting: machinery, fabricated steelwork, precast units and large components where you need a high capacity but also want to protect the surface of the load. Manufactured from 100% high-tenacity polyester, it is rated at 10,000kg in a straight lift and finished in the industry-standard orange colour for 10t, so it can be identified at a glance on site.

A Lighter Alternative to Heavy Chain at 10 Tonnes

At 10t, a chain or wire rope sling becomes heavy and awkward for one person to handle. A duplex webbing sling of the same capacity weighs a fraction of that, so it is quicker to carry, position and rig, and it can be folded away for storage. The double-layer construction gives the strength and wear resistance needed for repeated heavy lifts, while the flat, wide webbing spreads the load over a larger contact area for better grip and stability.

Built to BS EN 1492-1 with a 7:1 Safety Factor

Each sling is produced in accordance with BS EN 1492-1:2000 and the Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC, and is engineered with a 7:1 safety factor. Every sling is supplied with a Declaration of Conformity, giving you full confidence in its quality and compliance.

Working Load Limits by Lifting Mode

The 10t rating applies to a straight vertical lift. Using the standard EN 1492-1 mode factors, the WLL changes with the hitch used:

  • Straight lift: 10,000kg
  • Choke hitch: 8,000kg
  • Basket hitch (parallel): 20,000kg
  • Basket hitch (0–45°): 14,000kg
  • Basket hitch (45–60°): 10,000kg

Always check the mode factors on the sling label before lifting.

Protects Painted and Finished Surfaces

The soft polyester webbing is far less likely to mark, scratch or crush a load than chain or wire rope, which makes it ideal for painted steel, machined parts, polished components and coated pipework. Where the load has sharp edges or abrasive corners, use protective wear sleeves or edge protectors to prevent cutting and extend the life of the sling.

Traceability Label

Each sling carries a durable blue traceability label showing:

  • Working Load Limit (WLL)
  • Effective working length (EWL)
  • Unique serial number
  • Mode factors and compliance details

This makes routine inspection straightforward and supports your record keeping under LOLER.

Operating Temperature and Elongation

The sling can be used at temperatures from -40°C to +100°C, so it is suitable for both indoor and outdoor work. Maximum elongation of 3% at WLL keeps heavy loads stable and controlled, helping with accurate positioning during installation.

Applications

  • Machinery installation and relocation
  • Painted and fabricated structural steel
  • Precast concrete units
  • Large pipes, tanks and vessels
  • Plant and heavy engineering components
  • Crane lifting in construction and industrial sites
