PlumAlti Heavy-Duty Polyester Round Sling – 6t WLL

The PlumAlti 6 tonne Polyester Round Sling is a brown, endless sling rated at 6,000kg in a straight lift. It is well suited to rotating and drive-train components, such as wheels, gears, bearings and cylinders, where precision surfaces must be protected and the sling needs to grip a rounded profile securely.

Ideal for Wheels, Gears and Cylinders

Rail wheelsets, axles, gear wheels, large bearings and hydraulic rams all have finished surfaces that are expensive to damage. The round sling’s soft sleeve and flexible core wrap closely around these components, gripping evenly without scoring treads, gear teeth, bearing races or chrome-plated piston rods. It is also a good choice for electric motor stators and armatures during rewinds and overhauls.

How the Endless Design Helps

Because the sling forms a continuous loop, it can be used in a choke hitch around a shaft or axle, threaded through a wheel or gear bore, or rigged in a basket under a cylinder. There are no fixed eyes, so the contact points can be changed between lifts to even out wear. The load-bearing polyester core sits inside a protective outer sleeve, and additional protective sleeves can be fitted for keyways, splines or sharp edges.

Brown Colour Coding for 6 Tonnes

Brown is the EN 1492-2 colour for a 6 tonne round sling, so the capacity can be checked instantly in the workshop or depot.

6t Working Load Limits by Hitch

Applying the standard EN 1492-2 mode factors, the WLL in each hitch is:

• Straight lift: 6,000kg
• Choke hitch: 4,800kg
• Basket hitch (parallel): 12,000kg
• Basket hitch (0–45°): 8,400kg
• Basket hitch (45–60°): 6,000kg

The WLL for each mode is also shown on the sling label.

Compliance and Traceability

The sling is manufactured from 100% high-tenacity polyester to EN 1492-2 and the Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC. It has a 7:1 safety factor for standard lifting, or 5:1 for specialised applications. The blue traceability label shows the serial number, WLL, effective working length and safety factors, supporting your inspection regime and LOLER records.

Suitable Working Temperatures

The sling can be used from -40°C to +100°C, covering maintenance depots, overhaul workshops and outdoor rail and plant yards.

6t or 8t?

The 6t round sling covers most wheel, gear and cylinder lifts. If your component is close to 6 tonnes, or you will be lifting in a choke hitch, choose the PlumAlti 8t Polyester Round Sling (Blue).
