Description

PlumAlti Heavy-Duty Duplex Webbing Sling – 6t WLL

The PlumAlti 6 tonne Duplex Webbing Sling is a brown, two-ply polyester sling rated at 6,000kg in a straight lift. It sits in the middle of the duplex range, offering enough capacity for most workshop and site lifts while staying light enough for one person to carry, rig and store with ease.

A Versatile Sling for Workshops and Fabrication

Many overhead cranes and gantries in engineering workshops and fabrication shops are rated around 5 to 6.3 tonnes, and a 6t sling makes good use of that capacity. It is well suited to moving CNC machines, lathes and machine tools, lifting mid-weight fabrications, and handling jigs, fixtures and engineered components around the shop floor.

Ideal for Stone, Timber and Building Materials

Polished stone, granite worktops, masonry blocks and timber or glulam beams are easily chipped, marked or crushed by chain. The flat, wide webbing gives a soft, even grip that protects these surfaces, while the duplex construction provides the durability needed for frequent lifting on construction sites and in stone yards. Fit wear sleeves or corner protectors on any sharp or abrasive edges.

Brown Colour Coding for 6 Tonnes

Brown is the EN 1492-1 colour for a 6 tonne sling. The colour lets operators confirm the capacity at a glance and helps keep slings sorted correctly in the store or on the back of the van.

6t Working Load Limits

The WLL varies with the hitch used. Based on the standard EN 1492-1 mode factors:

  • Straight lift: 6,000kg
  • Choke hitch: 4,800kg
  • Basket hitch (parallel): 12,000kg
  • Basket hitch (0–45°): 8,400kg
  • Basket hitch (45–60°): 6,000kg

These figures are also shown on the sling label.

Construction and Compliance

Each sling is made from 100% high-tenacity polyester in a double-ply construction for strength and wear resistance. It has a 7:1 safety factor, is produced in accordance with BS EN 1492-1:2000 and the Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC, and comes with a Declaration of Conformity.

The blue traceability label records the WLL, effective working length, unique serial number and mode factors, so every sling can be identified and tracked through its inspection history.

Performance in Different Conditions

Rated for use between -40°C and +100°C, the sling is suitable for heated workshops, unheated stores and outdoor sites alike. With maximum elongation of 3% at WLL, loads stay steady when lowering them into position on a machine bed, plinth or wall.

6t or 8t?

A 6t sling handles most workshop and building-material lifts and is lighter to carry than the higher capacities. If your loads regularly come close to 6 tonnes, or you plan to use a choke hitch, choose the PlumAlti 8t Duplex Webbing Sling (Blue) instead.

Common Applications

  • CNC machines, lathes and machine tools
