PlumAlti Heavy-Duty Polyester Round Sling – 8t WLL

The PlumAlti 8 tonne Polyester Round Sling is a blue, endless sling rated at 8,000kg in a straight lift. Its round, flexible profile is ideal for coils, reels and pipework, where the sling needs to pass through a central eye or wrap around a curved surface without damaging the load.

Made for Coils, Reels and Pipework

Steel coils, paper reels and rolls of film are easily damaged on their edges and outer wraps. A round sling can be threaded through the coil or reel eye and used in a basket hitch, keeping the lift balanced and away from vulnerable surfaces. The same soft, conforming grip suits pipe spools, pipeline sections and large valves, protecting coatings, flanges and machined faces from marks and dents.

Endless Loop, Longer Life

With no fixed eyes, the sling’s contact points can be moved around the loop between lifts. This spreads wear evenly along the sling rather than concentrating it in one area. The load is carried entirely by a continuous core of high-tenacity polyester fibres, protected by a hard-wearing outer sleeve. Add protective sleeves when lifting coils or steel sections with sharp edges.

Blue Colour Coding for 8 Tonnes

Under EN 1492-2, blue identifies an 8 tonne round sling, helping operators pick the correct capacity quickly in busy stockyards and warehouses.

8t Working Load Limits

Based on the standard EN 1492-2 mode factors, the WLL in each hitch is:

• Straight lift: 8,000kg
• Choke hitch: 6,400kg
• Basket hitch (parallel): 16,000kg
• Basket hitch (0–45°): 11,200kg
• Basket hitch (45–60°): 8,000kg

For coil and reel lifting through the eye, a parallel basket hitch gives the highest capacity and the most stable lift.

Standards and Traceability

Manufactured from 100% high-tenacity polyester to EN 1492-2 and the Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC, the sling has a 7:1 safety factor for standard lifting and 5:1 for specialised applications. A blue traceability label carries the serial number, WLL, effective working length and safety factors for easy inspection and record keeping.

Operating Conditions

Rated for use from -40°C to +100°C, the sling works equally well in warehouses, steel stockholders, paper mills and outdoor pipe yards.

8t or 10t?

The 8t round sling covers most coil, reel and pipe lifts. For heavier loads close to 8 tonnes, or when using a choke hitch, step up to the PlumAlti 10t Polyester Round Sling (Orange).
