Description

PlumAlti Heavy-Duty Duplex Webbing Sling – 8t WLL

The PlumAlti 8 tonne Duplex Webbing Sling is a blue, double-layer polyester sling rated at 8,000kg in a straight lift. It is a popular choice for lifting high-value packaged equipment such as generators, transformers, switchgear, vehicles and boats, where the load needs a secure grip without scuffing paintwork, panels or housings.

Gentle on High-Value Equipment

Enclosures, cabinets, hulls and bodywork are easily dented or scratched by chain. The wide, soft webbing of an 8t duplex sling spreads the load across a larger contact area, reducing point pressure and protecting coated and painted surfaces. For loads with sharp edges or corners, such as steel skids and frames, fit wear sleeves or edge protectors to keep the webbing from being cut.

Blue Colour Coding for 8 Tonnes

Under EN 1492-1, blue identifies an 8 tonne sling. This makes it easy for slingers and crane operators to confirm the right capacity at a glance, and helps prevent an under-rated sling being picked up by mistake in a busy yard or loading bay.

8t Working Load Limits by Hitch

The WLL depends on how the sling is rigged. Using the standard EN 1492-1 mode factors:

  • Straight lift: 8,000kg
  • Choke hitch: 6,400kg
  • Basket hitch (parallel): 16,000kg
  • Basket hitch (0–45°): 11,200kg
  • Basket hitch (45–60°): 8,000kg

The mode factors are also printed on the sling label for reference before every lift.

Strength, Safety and Compliance

The duplex construction uses two plies of 100% high-tenacity polyester for added strength and resistance to wear. Each sling has a 7:1 safety factor and is produced in accordance with BS EN 1492-1:2000 and the Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC. It is supplied with a Declaration of Conformity.

A blue traceability label shows the WLL, effective working length, unique serial number and mode factors, making inspections quick and keeping your LOLER records straightforward.

Suitable for Indoor and Outdoor Lifting

The sling can be used from -40°C to +100°C, so it handles cold yards, quaysides and outdoor sites as well as workshops. Elongation is limited to a maximum of 3% at WLL, keeping the load steady when lowering equipment onto plinths, trailers or foundations.

8t or 10t?

An 8t sling covers most generator, transformer and vehicle lifts while being lighter and easier to handle than the 10t version. If your heaviest load is close to 8 tonnes, or you will be using a choke hitch, step up to the PlumAlti 10t Duplex Webbing Sling (Orange) for extra headroom.
