Description
PlumAlti Heavy-Duty Polyester Round Sling – 10t WLL
The PlumAlti 10 tonne Polyester Round Sling is an orange, endless sling rated at 10,000kg in a straight lift. Its continuous loop of high-tenacity polyester fibres, enclosed in a protective outer sleeve, moulds closely to the shape of the load, making it a strong choice for heavy cylindrical, rounded and irregular components where a flat sling or chain would struggle to grip evenly.
Why Use a Round Sling at 10 Tonnes?
At this capacity, loads such as mill rolls, shafts, rotors and heavy castings are often round or awkwardly shaped. A round sling wraps around these profiles and spreads the load across its whole contact area, giving a secure, balanced lift without crushing or marking machined faces. Because the sling is endless, it has no fixed eyes, so the contact points can be rotated between lifts to spread wear and extend service life.
Protected Core Construction
All of the load is carried by the internal polyester core. The outer sleeve shields that core from dirt, abrasion and UV, while keeping the sling soft and flexible to handle. For loads with sharp edges or rough surfaces, such as castings and fabrications, fit protective sleeves to guard against cutting.
Orange Colour Coding for 10 Tonnes
Orange is the EN 1492-2 identification colour for a 10 tonne round sling, allowing the capacity to be confirmed at a glance on site.
10t Working Load Limits by Hitch
Using the standard EN 1492-2 mode factors, the WLL in each hitch is:
- Straight lift: 10,000kg
- Choke hitch: 8,000kg
- Basket hitch (parallel): 20,000kg
- Basket hitch (0–45°): 14,000kg
- Basket hitch (45–60°): 10,000kg
A choke hitch is particularly effective on round loads such as rolls and shafts, as the sling tightens evenly around the circumference.
Compliance and Traceability
Each sling is made from 100% high-tenacity polyester to EN 1492-2 and the Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC, with a 7:1 safety factor for standard lifting (5:1 for specialised applications). A blue traceability label records the serial number, WLL, effective working length and safety factors to support your LOLER inspection records.
Temperature Range
The sling can be used from -40°C to +100°C, so it is suitable for indoor production areas, outdoor yards and marine environments alike.
Round Sling or Webbing Sling?
Choose a round sling for cylindrical and irregular loads, or where you want to rotate the sling to spread wear. For long, flat or square-edged loads that benefit from a wide, stable bearing surface, the PlumAlti 10t Duplex Webbing Sling (Orange) may be the better fit.
Applications
- Mill rolls and heavy rollers
- Shafts, rotors and turbine components
- Heavy castings and forgings
- Offshore and marine equipment
- Large polished or machined components
- Heavy irregular-shaped loads
