PlumAlti Heavy-Duty Polyester Round Sling – 5t WLL
The PlumAlti 5 tonne Polyester Round Sling is a red, endless sling rated at 5,000kg in a straight lift. It is designed for lifting high-value and sensitive equipment, where the load must be handled gently and its surfaces kept free from scratches, dents and contamination.
For High-Value and Sensitive Equipment
Aerospace and defence components, stainless steel process equipment, heat exchangers and scientific or medical equipment are costly to repair and often have finishes that must not be marked. The round sling’s soft outer sleeve and flexible core grip the load evenly without point loading, making it a safer choice than chain or wire rope for these lifts. Unlike metal lifting gear, it will not transfer rust or scale onto polished stainless steel.
Adaptable Rigging for Specialist Moves
Specialist moves often involve awkward shapes and limited lifting points. The endless loop can be rigged in a choke, basket or straight configuration, wrapped around frames and housings, or used in pairs for balanced lifts. With no fixed eyes, the contact points can be changed between jobs to spread wear evenly. The load-bearing polyester core is fully enclosed in a protective sleeve, and extra protective sleeves can be added wherever the sling meets an edge or corner.
Red Colour Coding for 5 Tonnes
Red is the EN 1492-2 colour for a 5 tonne round sling, giving riggers and operators a clear visual check of capacity before every lift.
5t Working Load Limits
Using the standard EN 1492-2 mode factors, the WLL in each hitch is:
- Straight lift: 5,000kg
- Choke hitch: 4,000kg
- Basket hitch (parallel): 10,000kg
- Basket hitch (0–45°): 7,000kg
- Basket hitch (45–60°): 5,000kg
The mode factors are also printed on the sling label for reference.
Standards and Traceability
Each sling is made from 100% high-tenacity polyester to EN 1492-2 and the Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC, with a 7:1 safety factor for standard lifting and 5:1 for specialised applications. A blue traceability label lists the serial number, WLL, effective working length and safety factors, making it easy to document lifts and meet LOLER requirements.
Clean Rooms to Outdoor Sites
The sling can be used from -40°C to +100°C, suiting controlled production environments, laboratories and hospitals as well as outdoor installations.
5t or 6t?
The 5t round sling covers most specialist and high-value equipment lifts. If your load is close to 5 tonnes, or a choke hitch is required, choose the PlumAlti 6t Polyester Round Sling (Brown).
