Description
Pewag KWB Grade 8 Two Leg Chain Sling Assembly
Pewag KWB Grade 8 Two Leg Chain Sling Assemblies provide a robust and flexible lifting solution for loads with two designated lifting points or where additional stability and load control are required. Manufactured using Pewag KWB Super Alloy Grade 80 chain and components, these ready-made chain slings are designed for demanding lifting applications across construction, engineering, manufacturing, utilities and heavy industry.
The two-leg configuration distributes the load between two lifting points, helping to improve stability during lifting and positioning. A range of chain diameters, hook types and effective working lengths allows each sling to be specified around the requirements of the application.
Optional shortening grab hooks can be fitted to each leg, allowing the effective working length to be adjusted where required. This is particularly useful when handling uneven or asymmetrical loads, helping to maintain better load control without requiring additional rigging equipment.
Grade 8 Two Leg Chain Slings
Pewag KWB Super Alloy Grade 80 chain and components provide a high strength-to-weight ratio alongside resistance to wear, fatigue and shock loading. The two-leg arrangement is particularly suited to loads with two lifting points where controlled positioning and improved stability are important.
Working Load Limits depend on the selected chain diameter, sling configuration and angle of inclination. The correct WLL should always be confirmed against the relevant Pewag load information before lifting.
Flexible Hook & Length Options
The two-leg chain sling can be configured with a choice of terminations to suit different lifting points and working requirements:
- Latch hooks
- Self-locking safety hooks
- Swivel Self-locking safety hooks
- Optional shortening grab hooks on each leg
- Specified effective working length (reach)
Shortening grab hooks allow the individual legs to be adjusted where required. This makes them particularly useful for loads that are uneven, asymmetrical or require careful positioning during lifting.
Available Chain Sizes
Pewag KWB two-leg chain sling assemblies are available across a broad range of chain diameters, providing options for light, medium and heavy-duty lifting applications.
The supplied specifications include chain diameters from 6mm to 32mm, subject to configuration and availability. Larger chain sizes can provide substantially higher Working Load Limits, with the overall range extending to approximately 45t depending on the selected configuration and angle of use.

Capacity & Load Information
The Working Load Limit of a two-leg chain sling is affected by the chain diameter, the configuration of the sling and the angle of inclination.
As the sling angle increases, the load carried by each leg also increases. For this reason, the WLL must always be checked against the appropriate manufacturer load chart for the specific chain size and lifting arrangement.
Where possible, the load should be evenly distributed between the two legs. Uneven or asymmetrical loads may require adjustment of the individual leg lengths or a different lifting arrangement to ensure the load remains stable.
Never select a sling based solely on its maximum quoted WLL. The actual rated capacity for the complete assembly must be confirmed for the intended lifting configuration.

Safety & User Instructions
- Always confirm the Working Load Limit before lifting.
- Select the correct chain diameter and sling configuration for the load.
- Ensure both lifting points are suitable and correctly positioned.
- Check the sling angle before lifting and account for the increased load in each leg at wider angles.
- Ensure the load is properly balanced and supported by the sling.
- Use shortening grab hooks correctly where fitted and ensure the chain is securely engaged.
- Inspect the chain, hooks and fittings before each use.
- Remove the sling from service if links, hooks or fittings show signs of excessive wear, deformation, cracking or other damage.
- Do not exceed the rated capacity of the sling.
- Avoid shock loading and sudden loading.
- Do not modify or repair the sling without appropriate manufacturer approval.
- Only competent and appropriately trained persons should select and use lifting slings.
- Follow the supplied Pewag safe-use instructions and applicable workplace lifting requirements.
