Description

Tiger TAH52 Pneumatic Air Hoist

The Tiger TAH52 Pneumatic Air Hoist is a heavy-duty industrial lifting solution designed for applications where high lifting capacity, continuous operation and dependable performance are essential.

Available from 5 tonnes to 20 tonnes WLL, the TAH52 is designed for demanding environments including mining, shipyards, offshore platforms, power stations, manufacturing facilities and heavy engineering applications.

Powered by compressed air at 4-6 bar, the TAH52 provides a 100% duty cycle, allowing continuous operation without the duty limitations associated with many electric hoists. This makes it particularly well suited to repetitive lifting operations and applications where the hoist may need to remain in service for extended periods.

The hoist combines a high-torque vane motor, sealed planetary gearbox, Grade 8 load chain and fail-safe disc brake to provide reliable lifting performance under demanding operating conditions.

Heavy-Duty Pneumatic Lifting

The TAH52 is designed specifically for applications where conventional electric lifting equipment may not provide the required combination of duty cycle, operating environment and lifting performance.

Compressed-air operation makes the hoist suitable for demanding industrial environments where continuous operation is required.

Key benefits include:

  • 5t to 20t lifting capacity
  • 100% continuous duty cycle
  • Operating pressure of 4–6 bar
  • Precise load positioning
  • High starting torque under load
  • Fail-safe braking
  • Integral overload protection
  • ATEX-certified configurations
  • Robust construction for demanding environments

100% Duty Cycle

One of the major advantages of the TAH52 is its 100% duty cycle.

The pneumatic motor can operate continuously while compressed air is available, making the hoist particularly suitable for repetitive and high-frequency lifting operations.

This makes the TAH52 an alternative to electric hoists in applications where continuous lifting and long operating periods are required.

5t to 20t Working Load Limit

The TAH52 is available with lifting capacities ranging from:

  • 5 tonnes
  • 10 tonnes
  • 15 tonnes
  • 20 tonnes

The appropriate hoist capacity should always be selected according to the intended lifting application and the Working Load Limit marked on the equipment.

Integral Load Limiter

The TAH52 incorporates an integral differential pressure load limiting valve.

The load limiter is designed to automatically prevent the operator from lifting loads exceeding 125% of the hoist’s Working Load Limit.

The system is designed to provide repeatable overload protection across the hoist’s operating pressure range without generating damaging heat or suffering wear in normal operation.

Fail-Safe Disc Brake

A non-asbestos self-adjusting disc brake provides automatic load holding when the air supply to the hoist is shut off.

The fail-safe brake engages automatically when the pneumatic supply is interrupted, helping to secure the suspended load during normal stopping and loss-of-air situations.

The brake is self-adjusting throughout its service life and is designed to hold more than 125% of the Working Load Limit.

Precise Load Control

The TAH52 provides accurate and controlled load positioning through its pneumatic control system.

This makes the hoist suitable for applications where loads need to be positioned accurately rather than simply raised or lowered at maximum speed.

Toggle and pendant control configurations are available, with additional control options available for more complex lifting arrangements.

High-Torque Vane Motor

The TAH52 uses a vane-type pneumatic motor designed to provide high starting torque when starting under load.

This makes the hoist well suited to heavy lifting applications where significant starting force is required.

Sealed Planetary Gearbox

A sealed planetary gearbox provides reliable power transmission while protecting the internal gearing from the demanding conditions associated with industrial lifting.

The gearbox incorporates:

  • Heat-treated gears
  • High-strength bearings
  • Low-friction components
  • Sealed construction

The design is intended to withstand demanding duty cycles and provide long-term service.

Grade 8 Load Chain

The TAH52 is fitted with Grade 8 load chain designed for demanding high-speed lifting cycles.

The load chain complies with the requirements of EN818-7 Appendix B, providing a robust lifting chain suitable for heavy-duty pneumatic hoist applications.

Low Noise Operation

An integrated exhaust silencer is incorporated into the hoist design to reduce operating noise.

The TAH52 has a stated noise level of below 85dB(A) with the integrated silencer.

This helps reduce noise exposure in busy industrial working environments.

ATEX Pneumatic Hoist

The TAH52 is available in an ATEX-certified configuration for hazardous-area applications.

The stated ATEX marking is:

Ex II 3 GD c IIB T4 IIIB T135°C

This configuration is suitable for:

  • Zone 2 gas hazardous areas
  • Zone 22 dust hazardous areas

ATEX Category 2 versions for higher-safety applications are also available on request.

This makes the TAH52 particularly suitable for demanding environments where potentially explosive atmospheres may be present.

Optional Stainless Steel Chain Carrier

A stainless steel chain carrier can be supplied as an optional accessory.

The chain carrier is designed to hold the length of load chain required during operation, helping prevent loose chain from becoming snagged during lifting and lowering.

It also helps protect loose chain during transportation between operating locations.

Air Line Filter, Regulator & Lubricator (FRL)

A suitable FRL unit (Filter, Regulator and Lubricator) is required for Tiger pneumatic hoists.

The FRL system:

Filters water and contaminants from the air supply
Regulates air pressure
Lubricates the pneumatic motor

The air-line lubricator should be installed close to the hoist and the air supply should be appropriately filtered to help protect the internal motor components.

Industrial Applications

The Tiger TAH52 is designed for demanding industrial applications, including:

  • Mining
  • Shipyards
  • Offshore construction
  • Offshore platforms
  • Power stations
  • Heavy engineering
  • Manufacturing facilities
  • Automotive plants
  • Foundries
  • Heat treatment plants
  • Industrial maintenance
  • Hazardous-area lifting
  • Heavy-duty material handling
