Description

Pewag Grade 10 Single Leg Chain Sling

The Pewag Grade 10 Single Leg Chain Sling is a high-performance lifting solution designed for straight, vertical lifting applications where strength, reliability and straightforward rigging are essential. Manufactured using Pewag Grade 10 lifting chain and supplied with compatible Grade 10 components, the sling is designed to meet the requirements of EN 818-2 and EN 818-4.

Grade 10 chain provides a higher Working Load Limit than Grade 8 chain of the same diameter, allowing a smaller chain size to be specified for some lifting applications. This can result in a lighter, more manageable sling that is easier to handle and quicker to rig, while maintaining a 4:1 safety factor.

Grade 10 Chain for Higher Capacity Lifting

Pewag Grade 10 single-leg chain slings are designed for vertical lifting from a single lifting point. The higher strength of Grade 10 steel allows increased lifting capacity relative to equivalent Grade 8 chain sizes, making the system suitable where weight, handling and lifting capacity are important considerations.

With a minimum breaking stress of 1,000 N/mm², Grade 10 chain offers high strength while retaining the durability expected from a heavy-duty lifting chain.

Lighter Chain, Easier Handling

The increased strength of Grade 10 chain means that a smaller chain diameter can often be selected for a given WLL compared with Grade 8. This can reduce the overall weight of the sling and make it easier for operators to position, connect and handle during lifting operations.

The high-visibility orange powder-coated chain also makes the sling easy to identify on site, while the distinctive oval Pewag identification tag provides key information for traceability and safe selection.

Hook & Shortening Options

Pewag Grade 10 single-leg chain slings can be configured with a choice of termination options to suit different lifting requirements.

Available options include:

  • Sling hooks with latch
  • Self-locking safety hooks
  • C hooks
  • Optional shortening grab hooks

Slings are manufactured to the specified effective length, allowing the finished assembly to be accurately matched to the intended lifting application.

Ideal Applications

Pewag Grade 10 Single Leg Chain Slings are suitable for:

  • Vertical lifting from a single lifting point
  • General engineering and manufacturing
  • Steel stock, bars and fabricated components
  • Machinery and plant handling
  • Plant maintenance
  • Warehouse and workshop lifting
  • Construction and industrial lifting
  • Applications where lighter, high-capacity rigging is beneficial
  • Lifting operations requiring simple, single-point rigging

Capacity & Load Information

The Working Load Limit (WLL) of the Pewag Grade 10 Single Leg Chain Sling depends on the selected chain diameter and configuration.

The stated 1.4t–40t range represents the available product range and should not be interpreted as the capacity of every chain size or sling configuration. Always select the appropriate chain diameter and components based on the required WLL and the applicable Pewag load chart.

These slings are rated for uniform vertical lifting only. The WLL must be reduced or the sling assessed appropriately when exposed to conditions such as shock loading, edge loading or elevated temperatures.
