Description
Pewag PCWI G6+ Stainless Steel Pump Lifting Chain – 400kg-1.25t WLL
The Pewag PCWI G6+ Stainless Steel Pump Lifting Chain is a specialist lifting assembly designed for the safe vertical lifting, installation and removal of pumps and submersible equipment in wet, corrosive and hygienic environments. Manufactured from AISI 316 marine-grade stainless steel, the PCWI pump chain provides excellent resistance to corrosion, chemicals and contamination.
Each pump lifting chain is fully welded using advanced butt resistance or flash butt welding techniques, producing 100% full penetration welds throughout the assembly. This construction eliminates hollow spaces and cracks where water, chemicals or residue could accumulate, making the chain particularly suitable for water, wastewater, chemical and oil industry applications.
The welded stainless steel construction provides a smooth, easy-to-clean surface and is well suited to installations where reliability, hygiene and long service life are important. The chains are available in a wide range of Working Load Limits from 400kg to 1.25t, with standard assemblies available in various lengths and configurations.
Each assembly is supplied with an AWI oval stainless steel master link at each end, with additional master links positioned at approximately one-metre intervals along the chain. This allows the chain to be more easily handled, positioned and attached during pump installation and removal.
AISI 316 Stainless Steel for Corrosive & Wet Environments
Pewag PCWI G6+ pump lifting chains are manufactured from AISI 316 marine-grade stainless steel, making them particularly suitable for permanently wet, corrosive and chemically sensitive environments.
The stainless steel construction provides resistance to corrosion while the smooth surface makes the chain easier to clean and maintain. This is especially useful in pumping stations and other installations where the lifting chain can be regularly exposed to water, chemicals or contaminants.
The PCWI range is designed specifically around pump lifting applications, providing a dedicated lifting solution rather than a standard general-purpose chain sling.
Fully Welded Construction
The PCWI G6+ chain is manufactured using butt resistance or flash butt welding techniques to provide 100% full penetration welds.
The fully welded construction eliminates hollow spaces and cracks around the welds, reducing areas where water, chemicals and residue could accumulate.
This makes the chain particularly suitable for applications where cleanliness and contamination control are important, while the welded construction also provides a durable solution for repeated pump installation and removal.
Master Links for Easier Pump Installation
PCWI pump lifting chains are supplied with an AWI oval stainless steel master link at each end, with additional master links positioned approximately every metre along the chain.
The additional attachment points make the chain easier to handle and position when installing or removing pumps at different depths. They also provide greater flexibility when connecting the lifting chain to compatible lifting equipment.
The master links and chain components are matched to the specified assembly and Working Load Limit.
Proof Load Tested & Fully Traceable
Each PCWI pump lifting chain assembly is proof load tested by the manufacturer to 2 × the Working Load Limit and is fully traceable.
Every chain and component is batch numbered and grade marked. A stainless steel identification tag is supplied with the assembly, displaying key information including:
- Unique serial number
- Working Load Limit
- Manufacturer’s mark
- Sling grade
This provides clear identification of the lifting assembly and supports inspection and traceability requirements throughout its working life.

Capacity & Load Information
Pewag PCWI G6+ pump lifting chains are available with Working Load Limits from 400kg to 1.25t, depending on the selected chain size and configuration.
The chain is designed for vertical lifting of pumps and submersible equipment. The selected WLL must always be sufficient for the complete lifted load, including the pump and any attached equipment being lifted.
Each assembly is proof load tested by the manufacturer to 2 × its Working Load Limit.
The available range includes chain sizes from approximately 4mm to 26mm, with individual WLLs determined by the selected PCWI type.
Where the chain is subjected to severe conditions or a non-standard lifting arrangement, the appropriate reduction factors must be applied. Particular care should be taken with edge loading, impact loading and other conditions that may affect the permissible WLL.
The chain should not be used at temperatures above 350°C without specialist advice.
Always check the identification tag and relevant manufacturer documentation to confirm the WLL of the specific pump lifting chain before use.
