Description
Tiger TAH33 Pneumatic Air Hoist
The Tiger TAH33 Pneumatic Air Hoist is designed for heavy-duty lifting applications where high capacity, continuous operation and precise load positioning are essential. Powered by compressed air, the TAH33 provides a reliable alternative to electric hoists, particularly in industrial environments where electrical power may be unavailable or where lifting equipment needs to operate continuously.
With capacities from 3 tonnes to 10 tonnes WLL, the TAH33 is suited to demanding lifting operations across industries including shipbuilding, mining, offshore engineering, foundries, power generation, heavy engineering and industrial manufacturing.
The hoist operates from a compressed air supply of 4-6 bar and features a 100% duty cycle, allowing continuous operation while a suitable compressed air supply is maintained. This makes the TAH33 particularly suitable for repetitive lifting applications and demanding production or maintenance environments where conventional electric hoists may be restricted by duty-cycle limitations.
The Tiger TAH33 is designed to comply with ASME B30.16 and EN 14492-2, with manufacture carried out to ISO 9001 quality standards.
Advantages of Pneumatic Air Hoists
Compressed-air hoists offer several advantages for demanding industrial lifting applications.
The TAH33’s pneumatic drive system allows the hoist to operate continuously without the duty-cycle limitations associated with many electric hoists. This can make it particularly useful for production environments, heavy engineering, maintenance operations and applications involving frequent lifting.
Air-powered operation can also be advantageous where electrical power is unavailable or where compressed air is already available as part of the site’s infrastructure.
100% Continuous Duty Cycle
The Tiger TAH33 is designed for 100% continuous operation, making it suitable for lifting applications that require frequent or prolonged use.
The hoist can continue operating while a suitable compressed air supply is maintained, helping minimise interruptions during repetitive lifting operations.
This continuous-duty capability makes the TAH33 particularly well suited to demanding industrial applications where lifting equipment needs to withstand extended operating cycles.
Integral Load Limiter
The TAH33 incorporates an integral differential pressure load limiting valve designed to prevent the operator from lifting a load exceeding 125% of the rated working load limit.
The load limiter provides protection against excessive loading during lifting operations and is designed to operate consistently across the hoist’s working pressure range.
Fail-Safe Disc Brake
A non-asbestos, self-adjusting fail-safe disc brake automatically engages when the compressed air supply to the hoist is shut off.
This arrangement helps maintain control of a suspended load if the air supply is interrupted. The self-adjusting brake is designed to maintain its performance throughout its service life.
Precise Load Positioning
The TAH33 provides smooth and accurate control for lifting, lowering and positioning loads.
Pneumatic control allows operators to make precise adjustments when positioning heavy loads, making the hoist suitable for applications where accurate load placement is important.
A range of pendant configurations is available, allowing the control system to be specified to suit the operating environment.
High-Torque Pneumatic Vane Motor
The TAH33 features a pneumatic vane motor designed to provide high starting torque when starting under load.
This is particularly beneficial for heavy-duty lifting applications where the hoist needs to start reliably with a suspended load.
The pneumatic motor provides the power required for demanding lifting cycles while maintaining the benefits of compressed-air operation.
Sealed Planetary Gearbox
A sealed planetary gearbox provides a robust and protected drive system for demanding industrial applications.
The gearbox incorporates heat-treated gears and high-strength, low-friction bearings, helping the hoist withstand intensive duty cycles while protecting the internal drive components.
An integral exhaust air silencer is incorporated into the hoist design to reduce operating noise to below 85 dB(A).
Grade 8 Load Chain
The TAH33 uses Grade 8 load chain designed for heavy-duty and high-speed lifting applications.
The load chain complies with the requirements of EN 818-7 Appendix B, providing a strong and durable lifting medium for demanding industrial use.
Easy Maintenance and Servicing
The TAH33 features a modular construction designed to provide straightforward access to key internal components.
Access to the motor, brake, gearbox and load limiter simplifies inspection, servicing and maintenance operations.
The robust construction and use of common components across the Tiger pneumatic hoist range can also help simplify servicing requirements.
ATEX Pneumatic Air Hoist
The Tiger TAH33 is available with an ATEX configuration for suitable hazardous area lifting applications.
The stated ATEX Category 3 configuration is marked:
Ex II 3 GD c IIB T4 IIIB T135°C
This configuration is suitable for:
- Zone 2 gas hazardous areas
- Zone 22 dust hazardous areas
An ATEX Category 2 configuration for higher-safety applications is also available on request.
ATEX suitability must always be confirmed for the specific hazardous area, atmosphere, temperature classification and application before ordering.
Optional Stainless Steel Chain Carrier
A stainless steel chain carrier is available as an optional accessory for applications requiring additional load chain storage.
The carrier is designed to hold the required length of loose load chain and helps prevent the chain from becoming snagged during lifting or lowering. It also provides additional protection for loose chain when the hoist is transported between operating locations.
Air Line Filter Regulator Lubricator (FRL)
A suitable Filter Regulator Lubricator (FRL) unit should be used with the Tiger TAH33 pneumatic air hoist.
The FRL performs three key functions:
- Filters water and contaminants from the compressed air supply
- Regulates air pressure
- Lubricates the air supply
Correct filtration, pressure regulation and lubrication help protect the pneumatic motor and maintain consistent hoist performance.
Tiger pneumatic hoists require a clean and suitably lubricated compressed air supply. The FRL should therefore be correctly sized and installed in accordance with the manufacturer’s requirements.
Temperature Range
The standard ambient operating temperature range for the Tiger TAH33 is:
-20°C to +70°C
For applications outside this temperature range, suitability should be confirmed before ordering.
