Description
William Hackett Hack8 Grade 8 Round Sling Coupling
The William Hackett Hack8 Grade 8 Round Sling Coupling is a forged alloy steel component designed for use with polyester round slings. It is manufactured in accordance with EN 1677-1 and is suitable for use in chain slings certified to EN 818-4. It gives a secure, purpose-designed connection point between a round sling and Grade 8 lifting components.
The coupling can be used with other Hack8 coupling components, such as the Hack8 half coupling link or the Hack8 closed coupling master link. This makes it possible to build sling systems that combine chain and round slings within a single assembly.
Combining Chain and Round Slings
Round slings are lightweight and gentle on load surfaces, which makes them a popular choice for lifting finished, painted or delicate items. The Hack8 round sling coupling lets you bring them into a Grade 8 chain system. You can use the protective qualities of a round sling at the load while keeping the strength and adjustability of chain components higher up the assembly.
Grade 8 Alloy Steel Construction
Each Hack8 round sling coupling is made from alloy steel, which gives a good balance between toughness and ductility. Grade 8 components suit demanding lifting environments where reliability and resistance to impact matter. Every coupling carries a 4:1 safety factor.
Tested for Quality and Traceability
William Hackett crack-detects every coupling after heat treatment and proof load tests it to 2.5 times its Working Load Limit. These checks help confirm the integrity of each component before it enters service.
Wide Operating Temperature Range
The Hack8 round sling coupling is rated for use from -40°C to +200°C with no reduction in Working Load Limit. The polyester round sling it connects to will have its own, lower temperature limits. Always work to the lowest-rated component in the assembly.
Compatibility & Connection Options
The round sling coupling is designed to work as part of the Hack8 system. It can be used with:
- Polyester round slings
- Hack8 half coupling links
- Hack8 closed coupling master links
- Other Hack8 coupling components
The range covers sizes to suit chain from 7/8mm to 20mm, with Working Load Limits from 2.0 tonnes to 12.5 tonnes.
Ideal Applications
The William Hackett Hack8 Grade 8 Round Sling Coupling is suitable for:
- Construction lifting operations
- General industrial and manufacturing lifting
- Transportation and logistics handling
- Lifting finished, painted or easily damaged loads with round slings
- Building combined chain and round sling assemblies
- Connecting round slings to Hack8 master links and coupling components
Load & Dimension Table
| Part Code | WLL (t) | Chain Size (mm) | A (mm) | B (mm) | C (mm) | D (mm) | Mass (kg) | Box Qty |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 8-H35-08 | 2.00 | 7/8 | 20.5 | 36.0 | 39.0 | 24.1 | 0.22 | 100 |

Capacity & Load Information
The Working Load Limit of the Hack8 Round Sling Coupling depends on the size you select. The 2.0t–12.5t range covers the whole product range and does not apply to every size. Always match the coupling to the round sling and components it will be used with.
In a combined assembly, the overall WLL is set by its lowest-rated component, whether that is the coupling, the round sling or another fitting. Take into account any applicable reduction factors, such as shock loading, edge loading or the sling’s own temperature limits, as set out in the manufacturer’s instructions.

Safety & User Instructions
- Select the coupling to suit the round sling and the required WLL of the full assembly.
- Do not exceed the stated Working Load Limit of the coupling or any other component in the assembly.
- Use only with compatible round slings and Grade 8 components.
- Check that the round sling is correctly seated in the coupling and is not twisted or bunched before lifting.
- Inspect the coupling before every use for wear, cracks, deformation, nicks or corrosion.
- Inspect the round sling cover for cuts, abrasion, heat damage or exposed core yarns.
- Take out of service any coupling or sling showing damage or excessive wear.
- Avoid shock loading and sudden application of load.
- Observe the round sling’s own temperature limits, which are lower than the coupling’s.
- Do not modify, weld or heat-treat the coupling.
- Follow all manufacturer instructions and make sure the equipment is thoroughly examined in line with LOLER.
