Description
William Hackett Hack8 Grade 8 Closed Coupling Master Link
The William Hackett Hack8 Grade 8 Closed Coupling Master Link is a versatile coupling component for Grade 8 lifting assemblies. It is designed for use with Hack8 insulated blank swivels and other Hack8 coupling components. It is manufactured from alloy steel in accordance with EN 1677-1 and is suitable for use in chain slings certified to EN 818-4.
The master link has an open aperture that can receive a range of hook types. It can also be connected to webbing or round sling couplings, which makes it a flexible top fitting for chain, webbing and round sling assemblies.
Grade 8 Alloy Steel Construction
Each Hack8 closed coupling master link is made from alloy steel, which gives a good balance between toughness and ductility. Grade 8 components suit demanding lifting environments where reliability and resistance to impact matter. Every link carries a 4:1 safety factor.
Tested for Quality and Traceability
William Hackett crack-detects every link after heat treatment and proof load tests it to 2.5 times its Working Load Limit. These checks help confirm the integrity of each component before it enters service.
Wide Operating Temperature Range
The Hack8 closed coupling master link can be used from -40°C to +200°C with no reduction in Working Load Limit. This makes it suitable for cold outdoor sites as well as warmer industrial settings.
Compatibility & Connection Options
The closed coupling master link is designed to work as part of the Hack8 system. It can be used with:
- Hack8 insulated blank swivels
- Other Hack8 coupling components
- A variety of hook types through the open aperture
- Webbing sling couplings
- Round sling couplings
The range covers chain sizes from 7/8mm to 20mm, with Working Load Limits from 2.0 tonnes to 12.5 tonnes.
Ideal Applications
The William Hackett Hack8 Grade 8 Closed Coupling Master Link is suitable for:
- Construction lifting operations
- General industrial and manufacturing lifting
- Transportation and logistics handling
- Building and repairing Grade 8 chain slings
- Connecting swivels and coupling components within Hack8 assemblies
- Linking chain, webbing or round sling assemblies to a lifting hook
- Lifting in cold or elevated-temperature environments within -40°C to +200°C

Capacity & Load Information
The Working Load Limit of the Hack8 Closed Coupling Master Link depends on the size you select. The 2.0t–12.5t range covers the whole product range and does not apply to every size. Always choose the master link to match the chain size and the required WLL of the full assembly.
When the link is used as part of a chain sling, the assembly’s WLL is set by its lowest-rated component and its configuration. Take into account any applicable reduction factors, such as shock loading or edge loading, as set out in the manufacturer’s instructions.
