Description
William Hackett Hack8 Grade 8 Half Coupling Link
The William Hackett Hack8 Grade 8 Half Coupling Link is a connecting component that allows Hack8 insulated blank swivels and other Hack8 coupling components to be connected within a chain sling assembly. It is manufactured from alloy steel in accordance with EN 1677-1 and is suitable for use in chain slings certified to EN 818-4.
The half coupling link forms part of the wider Hack8 coupling system. It works alongside components such as the Hack8 closed coupling master link and the Hack8 round sling coupling, so you can configure assemblies to suit the lifting task.
Grade 8 Alloy Steel Construction
Each Hack8 half coupling link is made from alloy steel, which gives a good balance between toughness and ductility. Grade 8 components suit demanding lifting environments where reliability and resistance to impact matter. Every link carries a 4:1 safety factor.
Tested for Quality and Traceability
William Hackett crack-detects every half coupling link after heat treatment and proof load tests it to 2.5 times its Working Load Limit. These checks help confirm the integrity of each component before it enters service.
Wide Operating Temperature Range
The Hack8 half coupling link can be used from -40°C to +200°C with no reduction in Working Load Limit. This makes it suitable for cold outdoor sites as well as warmer industrial settings.
Compatibility & Connection Options
The half coupling link is designed to work as part of the Hack8 system. It can be used with:
- Hack8 insulated blank swivels
- Hack8 closed coupling master links
- Hack8 round sling couplings
- Other Hack8 coupling components
- Grade 8 chain sling assemblies
The range covers chain sizes from 7/8mm to 20mm, with Working Load Limits from 2.0 tonnes to 12.5 tonnes.
Ideal Applications
The William Hackett Hack8 Grade 8 Half Coupling Link is suitable for:
- Construction lifting operations
- General industrial and manufacturing lifting
- Transportation and logistics handling
- Adding swivels to Grade 8 chain sling assemblies
- Connecting Hack8 coupling components within a sling system
- Building and repairing Grade 8 chain slings
- Lifting in cold or elevated-temperature environments within -40°C to +200°C

Capacity & Load Information
The Working Load Limit of the Hack8 Half Coupling Link depends on the size you select. The 2.0t–12.5t range covers the whole product range and does not apply to every size. Always choose the half coupling link to match the chain size and the required WLL of the full assembly.
In any assembly, the overall WLL is set by its lowest-rated component and its configuration. Take into account any applicable reduction factors, such as shock loading or edge loading, as set out in the manufacturer’s instructions.
